PURPOSE: A forward and backward apparatus of a hydraulic CVT(Continuously variable transmission) by using an idle gear is provided to reduce the number of parts, and to cut down expenses by moving backward with interlocking a single backward clutch with the idle gear. CONSTITUTION: A forward and backward apparatus of a hydraulic CVT comprises an input shaft(10) receiving driving force from an engine(11) through a torque converter and rotating a driving pulley(13); first and second connection gears(14,16) connected to the input shaft; an idle gear(20) connected to the first and second connection gears; and a backward clutch(30) installed between the first connection gear and the input shaft and operated by receiving hydraulic pressure through a valve body to transmit power from the engine through the idle gear to the driving pulley with reversing. The idle gear is composed of a first idle gear(21) engaged with the first connection gear, and a second idle gear(25) engaged with the second connection gear and connected to the first idle gear by an idle shaft(23).
