In a method of marking out and mechanically working an electroconductive material such as a metal plate 1, a photoconductive layer 2 is applied to the surface of the plate, the photoconductive layer is electrostatically charged and the surface exposed to form thereon a latent image of the required pattern, the latent image is developed and the plate is mechanically worked as by cutting, welding or bending in conformity with the developed image. A coating of photoconducting powders dispersed in an insulated resin is applied to the plate 1 by means of a spraying or dipping process or by a brush. The coated layer is dried at 100-200‹ C. The photoconductive layer is charged electro-positive or electro-negative by carona discharge in a darkroom. The translucent original scale drawing is placed in a projector and projected on to the photosensitive layer to form a latent image which is developed by a conventional method of electrostatic developing such as the cascade, fur brush method. In a modification the electro-photographic layer is applied to the surface of a carrier material, the said layer being stripped from the carrier material and applied to the surface of the plate 1. |
