PURPOSE: A portable computer is provided to use an input device, of a control button-type for moving or selecting a pointing cursor which plays an optical device drive when a power switch is turned off. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a power supplier(21), a DC-DC converter(23), a microcomputer(27), a CD player IC(11), a touch pad IC(5), a bus switch(17). The power supplier(21) supplies power delivered by an adapter or a battery. The DC-DC converter(23) converts the supplied power into the power with various voltages, such as 1.5 V, 3.3 V and 4.5V. The microcomputer(27) turns on or off the power supplied for the CD player IC(11) and the touch pad IC(5) by controlling the DC-DC converter(23). The CD player IC(11) receives the power from the DC-DC converter(23) if an input button of a touch pad is selected in a condition that the power is turned off, and processes the audio data stored in a CD-ROM drive by using the received power. The bus switch(17) transmits a selection signal to either the touch pad IC(5) or the CD player IC(11) according to an on/off state of a power switch(4) if an input button of the touch pad is selected.
