PURPOSE: A method for automatically setting an ID by a BCP(BTS(Base Transceiver Subsystem) Control Processor) board in a mobile communication base station system is provided to reduce maintenance cost in the operation of the mobile communication base station system by setting the ID of each sub-board through communication with an upper board. CONSTITUTION: If an ID setup signal is received from a BSM(Base Station Manager) through a CCP(Call Control Processor) board, a BCP board temporarily stops the software loading of each sub-board(S100). The BCP board sets a VPI(Virtual Packed ID) and a VCI(Virtual Channel ID), outputs a BTS/BSC(Base Station Controller) ID information request signal to the CCP board, and receives an ID information response signal corresponding to the BTS/BSC ID information request signal(S200). The BCP board sets a reception flag signal as 'true', transmits the reception flag signal to the CCP board, and sets an ID of a BTS sub-board by BTS/BSC ID information of the ID information response signal, the VPI and the VCI(S300).
