PURPOSE: An electric field alignment method of a liquid crystal display, a method and an apparatus for driving a ferroelectric liquid crystal display using the method are provided to minimize motion blurring or tailing in a motion picture to improve display quality. CONSTITUTION: A ferroelectric liquid crystal is injected into a liquid crystal cell of a liquid crystal display panel at an initial temperature at which the liquid crystal maintains an isotropic phase or a nematic phase(S1). The temperature is decreased to change the ferroelectric liquid crystal from the nematic phase to smectic C phase(S4). While the nematic phase is changed to the smectic C phase, electric field whose polarity is inverted between vertical lines of the liquid crystal display panel is applied to the liquid crystal display panel to align the ferroelectric liquid crystal display(S5).
