PURPOSE: A projection system is provided to increase the contrast with maintaining the overall luminance of the projection system as it is. CONSTITUTION: A projection system includes a polarization converting unit and a color dividing unit. The polarization converting unit includes a fly-eye lens(31), a condenser lens array(41), a green color filter(42), a polarization dividing unit array(43) and a coupling lens(46). The fly-eye lens(FEL)(31) divides a light beam projected thereonto into a plurality of light beams by the unit of cell. The condenser lens array(41) converts a specific portion of light beams inputted from the FEL(31) into a parallel beam. The green color filter(42) is formed between the FEL(31) and the condenser lens array(41) for reflecting a plurality of intermediate light beam and for transmitting the remaining light beams. The polarization dividing unit array(43) converts an input light beam outputted from the condenser lens array(41) into a linear polarized light having an optical axis. And, the coupling lens(46) condenses the output light beam from the polarization dividing unit array(43). |
