METHOD FOR ANNEALING CHROMIUM BASED STAINLESS STEEL WIRE ROD

PURPOSE: A method for annealing a chromium based stainless steel wire rod is provided which enables pickling to be easily performed by properly controlling annealing conditions so that weight is not increased during annealing of the chromium based stainless steel wire rod. CONSTITUTION: In a method for annealing a hot rolled chromium based stainless steel wire rod, the method is characterized in that the annealing is performed before the pickling process; the annealing conditions are controlled in such a way that weight of the wire rod after annealing is reduced compared with that of the wire rod before annealing; the annealing conditions are annealing furnace temperature, oxygen partial pressure of atmospheric gas and extraction temperature of the wire rod from annealing furnace; and temperature of the annealing furnace is 800 to 870 deg.C, an oxygen partial pressure of the atmospheric gas is the same as or less than an atmospheric pressure value obtained by the following mathematical expression 1: log(oxygen partial pressure)=0.025x£annealing furnace temperature (deg.C)|-37.8, and the extraction temperature of the wire rod from the annealing furnace is 500 deg.C or less.
