PURPOSE: A method for predicting life time of rolls of continuous caster is provided to regularize replacement time of the rolls by detecting temperature of cooling water passing through the rolls in realtime and accurately predicting the life time of the rolls using slab temperature and cooling pattern. CONSTITUTION: In a method for predicting life time of a plurality of rolls respectively attached to a plurality of segments installed at a continuous caster for continuously casting a slab, the method comprises first step (S402) of calculating heat capacity Qi per unit area of the roll removed by cooling water discharged after being flown in the i th roll and circulated through the roll; second step (S403) of calculating temperature per positions of the slab using the Qi and obtaining solidification pattern of the slab using the temperature; third step (S404) of calculating temperature, displacement and stress of the roll contacted with the slab; fourth step (S405,S406) of calculating distortion energy (Ud1) of the roll and the maximum distortion energy (Ud2) that is a breakage condition; fifth step (S407) of calculating life time (Lroll) of the roll; sixth step (S408) of calculating the maximum average temperature value (T1max) of cooling water of the roll and the maximum average temperature value (T2max) of cooling water of the roll at certain time intervals; and seventh step (S409) of checking the roll in case of satisfying the following relational expressions at the same time: Ud1>=Ud2, Lroll>=N(set life time of roll), and abs(T1max-T2max)>=β(allowable error).
