PURPOSE: A method for evaluating quality of slab is provided which is capable of evaluating quality of the slab by continuously analyzing quality of the slab in online during casting using information on pressure applied to upper frame and roll gap information. CONSTITUTION: In a method for evaluating quality of slab in a continuous caster capable of controlling roll gap during casting by operating segment upper frame, the method comprises a step of setting an initial roll gap from target steel type, slab size and reduction amount through a roll gap control device(9); a roll gap position measuring step of measuring a distance between segment roll adhered to the segment upper frame(11) and segment roll adhered to lower frame(12) through a position measuring device(8); a pressure measuring step of measuring reaction force applied to the segment roll through a pressure measuring device(7) at the same time when performing the roll gap position measuring step; a step of deriving a difference between a roll gap set value and actual roll gap position information after the pressure measuring step; a step of judging degree of synchronization using position of left and right segment reduction cylinders(13); a step of measuring the extent of eccentricity of the slab from a pressure difference of the left and right segment reduction cylinders; and a step of evaluating quality of the slab by comparing the received information with slab size of relevant steel type, standardized roll gap corresponding to reduction amount, synchronization and eccentricity degree of the slab in a slab quality evaluation system(10) by receiving the above information.
