BRAKE OPERATED BY MOTOR

PURPOSE: A brake operated by a motor is provided to effectively increase torque of the motor by a planetary gear and to generate big braking power and obtain quick response speed of the motor with reducing load and size of the motor. CONSTITUTION: A brake operated by a motor is composed of a disc brake having a disc(21) and a caliper(20); an electric motor(30) mounted to the caliper; a planetary gear train(40) connected to a shaft(32) of the electric motor to reduce speed; a piston(50) combined with an output unit of the planetary gear train by a screw(51) to move left and right; and brake pads(22) installed to the end of the piston to move left and right. An input unit of the planetary gear train is a sun gear(41) connected to the shaft of the motor and the output unit is a ring gear(43). A screw(44) formed on an outer peripheral surface of the ring gear is combined with the screw formed on the inner peripheral surface of the piston. The ring gear is combined with the piston by a ball screw.
