PURPOSE: An electrolyte solution for a secondary battery and a secondary battery containing the electrolyte solution are provided, to inhibit the decomposition of a solvent and the increase of resistance and to improve storage property and capacity retention ratio. CONSTITUTION: The electrolyte solution comprises an aprotic solvent; 0.005-10 wt% of at least two sulfonyl groups-containing cyclic sulfone ester; optionally at least one sulfonyl group-containing compound; an imide anion and a transition metal ion or a complex of an imide anion and a transition metal ion; and optionally vinylene carbonate or its derivative. Preferably the cyclic sulfone ester is represented by the formula 1, wherein Q is O, a methylene group or a single bond; A is a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene group of C1-C5, a carbonyl group, a sulfinyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted fluoroalkylene group of C1-C6, or a divalent group of C2-C6 ether-bonded with an alkylene or fluoroalkylene unit; and B is a substituted or unsubstituted alkylene or fluoroalkylene group or O. |
