The invention relates to a lift installation and a method of arranging a dri ve engine (1,2,3, 3',4,40) of a lift installation. The lift installation comprises a cage (11) and a counterweight (10) in a shaft (10). It comprises a drive engine mounted on a crossbeam (8). The crossbeam is fastened by way of each of two end regions to a respective counterweight guide (9, 9') and it is fastened by a centre region to at leas t one cage guide (5, 5').
