A NEW STRONG AND SAFE BINDER FOR THE COORECTION OF HYPERPHOSPATEMIA IN PATIENTS WITH ESRD

yperphosphatemia is frequently found is hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis patients and lead to an increased risk of morality. The normalization of serum phosphate levels in therefore an important treatment goal. Absorption of phosphate from the food usually exceeds phosphate removal by dialysis and this leads to a chronic hyperphosphatemia in the majoriy of dialysis patients with all its deleterium consequences such as deterioration of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease. We introduce a new treatment for control of hyperphosphatemia, based on gluconic acid, which is a strong and safe phosphate binder.
