The procedure, designed to make labels with embossed information, e.g. in the form of Braille characters, from a roll (3) of plastic film with a paper backing layer, consists of a stage in which the film is unrolled, an embossing stage producing relief dots, and a cutting stage to separate labels from the film layer. In the embossing stage the film is passed between two cylinders, one of which has spikes to create the embossed points, the spikes being on a support attached to the cylinder by magnetism. The other cylinder has a coating of a material that matches the relief points.
