PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic substance treatment apparatus that can attain a bacteria controlling effect and a deodorizing effect without adversely affecting the human body and organic substance decomposing bacteria. SOLUTION: The organic substance treatment apparatus is provided with a treatment tank 1 that holds a carrier for organic matter decomposing microbes and decomposes organic substance such as fed garbage; an agitation means (e.g., agitation blade 9) that mixes the organic substance fed into the tank 1 with the held carrier under agitation; a ventilating means that ventilates the inside of the tank 1; and a heating means (e.g., surface heater 30) that heats the inside of the tank and is further provided with an ion generator 90 that is disposed in a passage (the upper part of the tank 1) for ventilation by means of the ventilating means and generates ions.
