The invention relates to a rotary switch used as an operating device for switching on and off, and automatically controlling, a number of different program runs of electrically operated appliances, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers or the like. According to the invention, a rotatably mounted operating element (3) is connected to a magnetic rotary field sensor (5) by means of a selector shaft (4), using Hall technology. An interface is integrated into the rotary field sensor (5), by which means an angle-dependent code is transmitted to an electronic evaluation and control unit. A device (6) for positioning the operating element (3) with angular precision is also provided, a program run being associated with a position of the rotary field sensor (5) in a switching position of the operating element (3). |
