Method of thermal monitoring of motor vehicle automatic transmission actuator, using temperature model for correction of actuator temperature signal

The method of thermal monitoring (20) of an actuator in a motor vehicle transmission to prevent thermal overload of the control electronics uses a temperature model to determine the actuator temperature. The control electronics are separated from the actuator. The model uses a correction signal from the reference temperature (34) of the sensor. On switching of the actuator, the determined temperature in the actuator and the reference temperature are stored in a permanent memory (28). Claims include an actuator monitor using the method.
