The airbag module (3) is mounted in the dashboard (1) of the road vehicle. The airbag (13) is folded up as a concertina- folded ring-shaped packet (15) surrounding the inner wall of the housing (7). The housing has a cylinder portion (23) with flat flanges (25,27) at each end. Metal bolts (29) may fasten the assembly to the edge of a cavity in the dashboard.
