A composition comprises a high molecular weight compound and, as an antistatic agent, a compound of the formula <FORM:1014303/C3/1> wherein X represents oxygen or sulphur, R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, R2 represents an alkyl group containing 12 to 20 carbon atoms, R3 and R4 each represent a hydrogen atom, a cycloalkyl, aryl, alkaryl or alkyl group, the alkyl group containing 1 to 20 carbon atoms. The groups R3 and R4 may be substituted by amino groups, hydroxy groups, alkoxy groups, carboxyalkyl groups or aryl groups. The antistatic agents may be mixed with the polymer, or in the case of epoxy resins and unsaturated polyesters, mixed with the polymerizable composition and then hardened. Specified polymers include polycarbonates, polyamides and polyurethanes as well as cellulose derivatives and numerous addition polymers.
