摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas purification method capable of removing sulfur from an exhaust gas purification means without overheating in a wider engine running state. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas purification method 46 is arranged in an exhaust gas passage for occluding SOx when the air fuel ratio of the exhaust gas is lean, and removing the occluded SOx when heated not less than sulfur removal temperature and the air fuel ratio of the circulating exhaust gas becomes rich. There is provided the exhaust gas purification method for repeating a temperature adjusting step (step 103) to adjust temperature of the exhaust gas purification means 46 for the temperature within the predetermined temperature not less than the sulfur removal temperature when removing sulfur from the exhaust gas purification means 46, and a sulfur removal process (step 107) for removing sulfur from the exhaust gas purification means 46 by controlling the air fuel ratio of the exhaust gas circulating in the exhaust gas purification means 46 richly when the temperature of the exhaust gas purification means 46 is within the temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
