PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method that prevents character scatter and color mixture, provides high reproducibility of thin lines, is free of color variations in color image, and ensures high image quality and high transfer efficiency. SOLUTION: The image forming method includes a process in which an image forming body conveyed to a specific transfer area while holding a toner image on its surface is superimposed on an image support so as to sandwich the toner image between them in the transfer area, an electric field is applied between the image forming body and the image support, also a ultrasonic wave is emitted by an ultrasonic wave emitting means disposed interspatially opposite the image support, and thus the toner image is transferred to the image support. In the image forming method for fixing an image by contact heating, a toner used in the method comprises toner particles containing at least a resin, a coloring agent, and a releasing agent. In the toner particles, the coefficient of the variation of the shape factor thereof is 16% or less, and the number coefficient of variation in the number particle size distribution thereof is 27% or less.
