PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image input device and an image inputting method capable of efficiently and simply obtaining an excellent entire image from a divided image. SOLUTION: This image input device has a dividing and photographing means for allowing overlapping of an object to divide the object into a plurality of areas and photographing the divided objects, a focused state comparing means for comparing focused states of the plurality of divided images in the plurality of overlapping parts photographed by the dividing and photographing means and a divided image combining means for combining the plurality of divided images photographed by the dividing and photographing means. The image combining means uses the overlapping parts of the divided images, wherein the focused state comparing means determines that a focused state is the most excellent and combines each of the plurality of overlapping parts.
