SOUND INSULATING ASSEMBLY TO BE FITTED IN CYLINDRICAL COMPONENT AND CYLINDRICAL COMPONENT WITH SUCH ASSEMBLY FITTED, PARTICULARLY, AUTOMOBILE COMPONENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem arising when a sound insulator is put in a cylindrical component irrelevantly to the sectional shape of the component to be insulated without using any expensive insert. SOLUTION: A member made of a material which is suitably expanded over the entire section is used and fitted to a wall part of the cylindrical component to be insulated by using a support. A sound insulating assembly (10) fitted to a component (K) is in a length direction. A cylinder wall (1) has wafers (13) capable of thermally expanding to form a foamed body and the wafers have two parallel main planes (13f) and extend from a 1st wall part toward a wall part on the opposite side from a 1st wall part (1i) in a diameter direction substantially along the main planes together with a support for the wafers which has a clamp (11) for holding the wafers before expansion. The clamp is coupled with a fixing means in the shape of a clip (12) for fixing the component to the 1st wall part. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
