The method involves mounting position elements (19a-19c) on the instrument (5) and determining the co-ordinates of the position elements with a suitable detector (24). The instrument is mounted so as to rotate about a point that is fixed with respect to the detector; the instrument is rotated about the point; the co-ordinates of the position elements are determined and the co-ordinates of the rotation point are derived from the co-ordinates of the position elements. An Independent claim is also included for an arrangement for position determination of instruments with position elements. |
