<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zirconia sintered compact that is capable of suppressing strength deterioration, particularly even under the situation in a temperature range of 100°C-300°C and in the presence of water or steam while mitigating the conductivity reduction, and that has a practical conductivity as a solid electrolyte for a solid oxide type fuel cell and the like and is excellent in structural reliability. <P>SOLUTION: The zirconia sintered compact is obtained by having a lanthanum gallate-type oxide or a lanthanum aluminate-type oxide or a mixture thereof contained in a zirconia containing 3-6 mol% of a scandia as a stabilizer. It is preferable that the content of the lanthanum gallate-type oxide or the lanthanum aluminate-type oxide or the mixture thereof is in a range of 0.5-2 wt.% to the scandia and that the crystalline phase of the sintered compact is mainly comprised of a tetragonal phase or a mixed phase of a tetragonal phase and a cubic phase. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
