<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of providing inexpensive BaSO<SB>4</SB>as compared with a conventional one by shortening the manufacturing process of BaSO<SB>4</SB>, and used for manufacturing an inexpensive lead-acid battery by using the BaSO<SB>4</SB>. <P>SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of the lead-acid battery is provided with a process for manufacturing a negative electrode active material paste by using water containing at least lead powder, sulfuric acid and BaSO<SB>4</SB>. The manufacturing method of the lead-acid battery is characterized by that the BaSO<SB>4</SB>-containing water is obtained through the following processes: (1) a process for obtaining a Ba compound by mixing and baking barite and coke; (2) a process for obtaining a Ba compound aqueous solution by dissolving the Ba compound in water; (3) a process for obtaining BaSO<SB>4</SB>by adding sulfuric acid to the Ba compound aqueous solution; (4) a process for washing the BaSO<SB>4</SB>by water; and (5) a process for obtaining BaSO<SB>4</SB>-containing water from the BaSO<SB>4</SB>washed by water and water. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
