PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform copying of a portrait size manuscript using an image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus comprises an image reading part 30 which irradiates light, makes the manuscript move, reads the reflected light, and translates to an image data, a manuscript size acquisition means 33 which acquits virtical and horizontal sizes of the manuscript to read, a printing means which prints the image based on the image data on either a fixed form paper or a rolled sheet, a printing medium detection means which detects either the fixed form paper or the rolled sheet is possible to be printed, and a control means 20. The control means 20 resizes the read image data based on the acquitted manuscript size and the size of fixed form paper, makes the printing means print the image based on the resized image data if printing on the fixed form paper is possible, and makes the printing means print the image based on the read image data, if printing on the rolled sheet is possible.
