PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for crosslinking a UV resin for a coating of an optical fiber in which conditions are defined in case of using two or more crosslinking tubes so that crosslinking unevenness may not be produced, and an apparatus for crosslinking the UV resin. SOLUTION: In the method for crosslinking the UV resin for the coating of the optical fiber, comprising accelerating crosslinking reaction of the UV resin by crosslinking tubes 3, in each of which a UV lamp 4 is incorporated, while advancing a coated wire 1A in a vertical direction, by subjecting the optical fiber 1 drawn from a preform to primary coating of the UV resin, the acceleration of the crosslinking reaction of the UV resin is carried out by using N crosslinking tubes 31, 32, 33 installed by setting the numerical value of positive integer multiple ofλ/N as the installation pitch P along the running direction of the coated wire 1A. When the frequency of alternating current applied to the UV lamp 4 is set to be f/2Hz,λis distance corresponding to the wavelength such that the coated wire 1A proceeds in 1/f s, and N is two or more positive integers.
