PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a physical exercise support device capable of automatically setting appropriate conditions for evaluation according to the skill of a user. SOLUTION: The physical exercise support device 10 comprises a monitor 19 for guiding the timing of a physical motion to be performed by the user, a sensor 26 for detecting the physical motion of the user, and an evaluation means for evaluating the difference between the timing of the physical motion guided for the user and the timing of the physical motion detected by the motion detecting means according to a prescribed evaluation condition. The physical exercise support device also has a characteristic information specifying means for specifying the type of the user indicating characteristics of the difference of the timing detected by the sensor 26 caused by the user's skill based on the difference between the timing of the physical motion guided for the user and the timing of the physical motion detected by the sensor 26, and an evaluation condition setting means for setting an evaluation condition based on the specified type of the user.
