A recording/reproduction device capable of realizing recording content management appropriate for a large-capacity storage device. Content data recorded on a recording medium is managed by a content age calculated from a time which has elapsed from the recording date and time and the genre and the one having a higher content age is automatically deleted. As for the content which a user does not want to delete automatically, it is possible to instruct delete inhibition and the content data under management of delete inhibition is excluded from the objects of automatic deletion. Moreover, an upper limit value is provided for the delete inhibition management so as to prevent assignment of delete inhibition for a large amount of content data, thereby assuring a recording area for automatic recording.
