A log-in method of a client server system having a well-balanced security and operationality. Upon reception of a connection request from a client (102), a server (101) acquires an IP address of the client and judges the network to which client is connected according to the IP address. When the client (102c) is judged to be connected to the Internet (105), a first log-in screen is displayed. When the clients (102a, 102b) are judged to be connected to an LAN (102), a second log-in screen requiring a simpler log-in operation than the first log-in screen is displayed.
