<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking brake device, which can secure the necessary fastening force while making utmost efforts to reduce the number of sensors. <P>SOLUTION: When a driver sets a manual switch to a parking position, electric current is supplied to a motor 2, and the motor 2 rotates in the direction of pulling a cable 8, and the movement for applying the parking brake is started. Next, a rotary disk 5 rotates together with an arm 6 by the force of a spring 9 until the motor 2 rotates up to a required angular position. When the angular position of the motor 2 becomes larger than the required value, the spring 9 is elongated. Thus, the rotation of the rotary disk 5 together with the arm 6 is released, and the arm 6 starts to rotate clockwise. Thus, the arm 6 separates from an ordinary parking detecting switch 10, and the ordinary parking detecting switch 10 is switched off.
