METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CURING RESIN COATING OF OPTICAL FIBER, AND PLASTIC CLAD OPTICAL FIBER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cure a coating of an optical fiber on which an ultraviolet curing resin is applied without preventing curing of the surface and sticking a volatile component absorbing ultraviolet rays to the inside of a cylindrical body, where is an optical fiber insertion space. SOLUTION: A cylindrical body 24 into which the optical fiber on which the ultraviolet curing resin is applied is inserted, and an ultra-violet light source 21 arranged at the outside of the cylindrical body 24 are provided. The ultraviolet curing resin is irradiated with ultraviolet rays from the ultra-violet light source 21 so as to be cured. During irradiation of the ultraviolet rays, the oxygen concentration of the atmosphere in the optical fiber insertion space of the cylindrical body 24 is controlled to be 10-15,000 ppm.
