PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cutting device and a cutting method by a new wire saw to cope with cases in which the circumferential route length of the wire saw is increased, the resistance of water by the wire saw at a deep lake bottom cannot be neglected, or the like. SOLUTION: A cutting means to cut a work by circumferentially traveling an endless wire saw comprises rails disposed on both sides across the work, a sweeping means to sweep the wire saw along the rails by reciprocally traveling the wire saw between the rails, and a wire saw feeding means to feed the wire saw when sweeping the wire saw by the sweeping means.
