PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a leathery sheet composed of joined type conjugated staple fibers splittable by a treatment in a hot water bath after a carding or needle punching treatment without peeling and splitting the fibers in the longitudinal direction thereof even after the carding treatment and the needle punching treatment and a polymeric elastic body and having an excellent touch feeling. SOLUTION: The leathery sheet substrate is composed of a fiber-entangled nonwoven fabric prepared by peeling the joined parts of the joined type conjugated fibers obtained by mutually joining 5 or more layers of A layers and B layers, splitting and forming ultrafine fibers and the polymeric elastic body. In the leathery sheet substrate, a polyolefinic resin (a) and a resin (b) compatible with the resin composing the B layers mutually exist together as a continuous phase and a dispersed phase in the A layers. The mixing ratio satisfies (a)/(b)=(25/75) to (75/25) expressed in terms of mass ratio. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
