PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly with excellent manufacturability capable of upgrading neutron economy and using effectively nuclear reactor fuel by increasing the degree of freedom of spatial distribution within reactor core of moderator such as water in reactor core. SOLUTION: The channel box of fuel assembly is comprised of four corner members (edge region) and four sideboards (profile section) instead of configuring with "bending + welding scheme" by using plates 2 pieces per group in conventional U shape. Thereby, flexibility of channel box manufacturing is upgraded, other than a conventional rectangular, an octagon is easy to make, so that void coefficient is adjusted optimally to meet various fuel assembly design/reactor core design by selecting a shape of each component part, thickness and material quality. Furthermore, S grid standardization of fuel grid can be attained, neutron flux distribution distortion in D grid horizontal cross section can be alleviated, and an effect such as not needing to change an existing facility like control rods is brought.
