PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-performance facsimile system, which can generate a picture used for multiple color printing on a reception side based on a color original and can efficiently transmit/receive the generated picture. SOLUTION: When the reception side has two color printing function in the facsimile system, for example, an original is read at a two color communication mode and a transmission processing is performed. A two color identification part (black and red, for example) identifies whether respective pixels are black or red from RGB components extracted by an analysis part in a reading part 16 of a FAX original. The page picture is generated at every color and it is stored in a picture storage part 15. At the time of transmission, the picture for two pages is transmitted as one communication unit from the FAX control part 19 at the time of transmission. The reception side stores the first color and the second color in the respective received pages in respective picture storage parts.
