The invention relates to an arithmetic unit comprising a first arithmetic unit block (10), a second arithmetic unit block (12), a control device (16) and a connecting device which comprises connecting lines. A separate connecting line (14a, 14b, 14c) is provided for each elementary cell having equal significance in the first arithmetic unit block (10) and in the second arithmetic unit block (12) in order to achieve rapid register exchange by means of the control devices (16) of the arithmetic unit blocks working in a parallel manner.
