An automatically operated production process has various machines, e.g robots ,machine tools, welding machines (A1-n) that are continuously monitored by feeding sensor data to monitoring computers (E1-n). The periodically sampled data is fed into a real time data base (D) at specified times that avoid data collisions. Output data is fed to single user groups (G1-n) such as quality, planning, production management.
