The primitives have functional relationships. The length conversion involves adapting the number of data units in such a way that the primitives maintain their functional relationships. Pref., the functional relationships comprise a channel or user identity. The length conversion comprises data compression. The compression involves compressing one series of data packets into a second in which the data field contains data of only one channel which is buffered.
