<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorocarbon type ion exchange membrane, which is drawn and oriented and thereby gives high mechanical strengths, high conductivity, and low heat shrinkage. <P>SOLUTION: The fluorocarbon type ion exchange membrane is a copolymer substantially constituted by (A) and (B) of the recurring units, with 1-500 μm in film thickness and 0.0005 or more in degree of orientation (ΔP) of its film face. In the (A) and (B) of the recurring units, Z is H, Cl, F, or a 1-3C perfluoroalkyl group; m is an integer of 1-3; and W=CO<SB>2</SB>R<SP>1</SP>, COR<SP>2</SP>, or SO<SB>2</SB>R<SP>2</SP>(wherein R<SP>1</SP>is a 1-3C perfluoroalkyl group; R<SP>2</SP>is a halogen or OM; and M is H, an alkali metal atom, an alkaline earth metal atom, or an ammonium ion). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
