<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability of an image forming apparatus by judging images predicted to be desired by users and automatically displaying the images in the images to be displayed on an image forming apparatus body and on an external terminal connected to the image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: For a user connected to a compound machine 1, a past job list managed by a past job managing part 10 is retrieved to decide whether the past job list of the user exists. If the past job list of the user does not exist, error processing is carried out. If the past job list of the user exists, an operation mode which is highly frequently used by the user is regarded as the operation mode desired by the user, and the operation mode is judged by a decision means 8.
