<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To install an elevator control device in the elevator pit, check it in the installed state, and avoid the influence due to entry of water into the pit. <P>SOLUTION: The elevator control device 1 is usually hanged and provided on the inspectable position in the elevator pit 4 using the wire 6 from the hoisting machine 5. Though the water immersion due to rain in the pit becomes problem in this case, a water immersion sensing means 8 sensing the water immersion in the pit before the water immersion reaches the control device in the pit, is provided, and sends out water immersion sensing signal when sensing the water immersion. When the water immersion signal is received, a required power is supplied from a power source 9 to the hoisting machine 5, the control device is hoisted to a predetermined height, the power supply is cut off, and the brake force is given to the hoisting machine 5 to fix it.
