IGNITION COIL FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ignition coil, having a long lifetime by preventing inflow of epoxy resin into a shock absorbing material, thereby preventing cracks of the epoxy resin.

SOLUTION: A secondary coil 3 and a primary coil 5 are arranged coaxially on the outside of a central core 1 and the gaps are filled with epoxy resin. The rod-like central core 1 has a substantially octagonal cross-section, and a shock-absorbing tape 13 is applied to the outer circumferential surface thereof except the opposite end parts 1c in the longitudinal direction. A cap-like shock-absorbing material 14 is fixed to the opposite end parts 1c of the central core 1 in the longitudinal direction. The inside diameter at the opening part of the shock absorbing material 14 is shorter than the outside diameter of the center core 1 applied with the shock-absorbing tape 13 and the shock-absorbing material 14 is fitted forcibly over the end part of the center core 1.
