PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture display device and its manufacturing method wherein a high display performance can be maintained for a long term. SOLUTION: A vacuum housing 10 has the front face substrate 11 and the rear face substrate 12 arranged opposed to each other. A fluorescent material screen 15 is formed on the front face substrate, and a plurality of electron emitting elements 18 to discharge electrons toward a fluorescent material screen are installed on the rear face substrate. The fluorescent material screen has a fluorescent material layer 16 in which a plurality of colors are formed with a gap and a black light-shading layer 17 formed between fluorescent material layers, and furthermore, a getter film 22 is formed by overlapping them on the black light-shading layer and the end brim part except the light emitting region of the each fluorescent material layer.
