PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide new dimethylolated substituted phenols having an alkoxyalkyl group which is a relatively stable condensation type functional group at the 6-or 4-position and having methylol groups which are each a condensation type functional group at the 2-and the 4-positions or the 2-and the 6-positions and trialkoxyalkyl-substituted phenols obtained therefrom. SOLUTION: The dimethylolated substituted phenols are represented by general formula (I) or general formula (II) (wherein, R<SP>1</SP>and R<SP>2</SP>denote each independently a hydrogen atom or a 1-4C alkyl group; and R<SP>3</SP>denotes a 1-4C alkyl group).
