A digital signal transmitting system and method, transmitting apparatus and method, and receiving apparatus and method for allowing reproduction of audio reference clocks of different frequencies from video reference clocks. Pixel clocks are frequency-divided to a predetermined frequency by a divider part (51) and compared in phase by a phase comparator part (52). An Fs decoder part (32) decides frequency division ratios P and Q based on Fs information transmitted from a transmitter side and representing the audio clock frequency, and supplies them to variable divider parts (55,56). As a result, even when the audio clock frequency varies, the oscillation frequency of a VCO part (54) can be kept constant, so that the variable divider part (56) outputs signals of a constant frequency, thereby keeping the frequency of the signals to be inputted to the phase comparator part (52) constant. The invention is applicable to an AV signal transmitting/receiving apparatus. |
