Disclosed herein are compositions and method useful in screening a compound for its ability to modulate the activity of a chromatin modifying enzyme. These include fusions between a targeted DNA-binding domain and a chromatin modifying enzyme (or functional fragment thereof), polynucleotides encoding such fusions, and methods for their use.
