<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simplified inexpensive method, to minimize a waste solution and also to recover rare-earth metals even from a rare-earth alloy containing large amounts of oxygen. <P>SOLUTION: The rare-earth alloy and glass slag are simultaneously melted and then solidified.
