<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the excessive rise of the internal pressure of a stator case in the so-called whirl retarder. <P>SOLUTION: A vent hole for sealing a case which stores a permanent magnet is made. Then, it is arranged so that air goes out or go in via the vent hole so as to always equalize the pressure within the stator case with the pressure (atmospheric pressure) outside the case, even if the internal pressure of the stator case goes up by any cause such as consecutive braking action, etc. Consequently, even in a retarder which is of such type that the permanent magnet whirls in the rotational direction of the rotor and the internal volume of the stator case is relatively small, it becomes possible to surely avoid the adverse effect of case internal pressure rise. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
